Genocide

I was reading a piece in CNN about US & Turkey relationship. And of course, anytime Turkey's mentioned, the struggle the Genocide has to be mentioned. After reading this particular piece http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/06/obamas-turkish-dilemma/, I couldn't help myself but respond.
Here's what I posted:

It is really disturbing to see how easily people can dismiss Armenian Genocide as casualty of war. And just because Turkey is an ally of US, does it mean that it should not be made accountable for what they did? Armenians are not asking for more then an apology from Turkey and an acknowledgment of what had happened and for Turkey to stop teaching the complete opposite in schools.
Everyone agrees that denying the Holocaust and the deaths during WWII would be unbearable, then why is it OK to deny Armenian tragedy? Is it because it happened 100 years ago? Is it because it happened to a small country that doesn't carry any Political influence?
It has been noted that Hitler during WWII said that "No one cared about what Turks were doing to Armenians, then why would they care about what we're doing to Jews?"
So, I hope that everyone stops to think about all the genocides that happen since then. It is not only about Armenian genocide.. We haven't made anyone accountable for Darfur, Rwanda and Bosnia. It is purely a human problem, and in order for us to stop these crimes in the future, we need to acknowledge our past.
Just spent half hour with helpdesk at work. Couldn't get any internet connection through LAN or Wireless. By the end of the conversation I just wanted to scream, so I politely said thank you and hung up before I started cursing him off.

Here are the highlights:

Me: I'm unable to connect online through LAN or Wireless
Helpdesk: OK.. Disconnect your laptop from the docking station and reconnect
Me: I don't use a docking station.
Helpdesk: What?? How do you get online then?
Me: Wireless or plug in network cable directly. Docking station isn't a must

After 15 minutes I was able to get online through LAN. Then I ask him another question:
Me: Thanks, but why am I unable to get online through Wireless?
Helpdesk: Well, there's something wrong with your ISP. You should contact them
Me: Hmm.. no.. I'm in the office, and not working from home. So, you're my point of contact. Have others reported any problems w/ wireless?
Helpdesk: Hmm.. OK madam.. You can ask your colleagues if they're having problems. However. You're not getting wireless, because you're in the office. And you don't have wireless there.
Me: Wrong! The entire building is wireless enabled for last 2 years. And I've been using wireless ever since.
Helpdesk: OK then.. You're not connecting through wireless, because it cannot find a signal
Me: I know that. I'm asking you why I can't find a signal? Do I need to re-install Odyssey?
Helpdesk: No.. You are just not finding a signal.
At this point I was ready to scream and curse, so I just politely said bye and hung up.

Two interesting news stories that caught my attention this morning:

Finally after 8 years of the ban, Obama is reversing Bush's policy and will allow federal money to go to embryonic stem-cell research. This couldn't have come soon enough.
Link for more details: www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/06/obama.stem.cell/index.html#cnnSTCText

And, Merck Pharmaceutical is buying Schering-Plough for $41.1 Billion. After Wyeth and Pfizer's merger, it was expected that others will follow suit. Maybe some analysts were right, within 5 years will only going to have 3 or 4 big pharmas.
Here's the article: money.cnn.com/2009/03/09/news/companies/merck_schering_plough/index.htm
I wonder what will happen the company I work for..

I was reading an article about the Rocky Mountain Newspaper shutting its doors down today, and I actually became sad. Not really sure why, since I've never read that paper and don't think I've heard of it before all the headlines about its demise. Maybe because it's a 150 year old publication that is forced to shut down, and that newspaper probably meant a lot to the locals of Denver, CO. To me it's a sign that we're going to hear more stories like that. Where a business that was an integral part of a small community, city or even a state, is forced to close its doors. Just wondering when something like this is going to actually affect me.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, here's an article www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/27/rocky.mountain/index.html

Вот несколько ёё фоток.

.
