Two interesting news stories that caught my attention this morning:

Finally after 8 years of the ban, Obama is reversing Bush's policy and will allow federal money to go to embryonic stem-cell research. This couldn't have come soon enough.

And, Merck Pharmaceutical is buying Schering-Plough for $41.1 Billion. After Wyeth and Pfizer's merger, it was expected that others will follow suit. Maybe some analysts were right, within 5 years will only going to have 3 or 4 big pharmas.

I wonder what will happen the company I work for..

I was reading an article about the Rocky Mountain Newspaper shutting its doors down today, and I actually became sad. Not really sure why, since I've never read that paper and don't think I've heard of it before all the headlines about its demise. Maybe because it's a 150 year old publication that is forced to shut down, and that newspaper probably meant a lot to the locals of Denver, CO. To me it's a sign that we're going to hear more stories like that.  Where a business that was an integral part of a small community, city  or even a state, is forced to close its doors. Just wondering when something like this is going to actually affect me.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, here's an article www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/27/rocky.mountain/index.html
